    The .app bundles are actually directories - both on OS X and Windows. OS X treats those directories slightly differently, however, in both cases those are directories and it should not be a problem to package an *.app bundle as a directory.

    However, please note that OS X uses Unix permissions and building on Windows may require running additional actions or setting appropriate default permissions to be able to deploy an application and you will loose the permissions for the application if it depends on them.

    By default all deployed files will have executable mode enabled, so it should not be a problem to run the application, but unwanted files will be executable as well.

    Therefore we recommend using a Unix machine (such as OS X or Linux) to avoid the permission issues
