    You could just use:

      <runProgram>
        <program>${installdir}/configureFirst.sh</program>
        <programArguments></programArguments>
        <workingDirectory>${installdir}</workingDirectory>
      </runProgram>
    

    If you require to run it as administrator, you could either force the installation as admin:

    <project>
         ...
         <requireInstallationByRootUser>1</requireInstallationByRootUser>
         ...
    </project>
    

    Or use <runAs> when calling the <runProgram>, but it will rely on either gksu or kdsu utils present on the system:

      <runProgram>
        <runAs>root</runAs>
        <program>${installdir}/configureFirst.sh</program>
        <programArguments></programArguments>
        <workingDirectory>${installdir}</workingDirectory>
      </runProgram>
