I've been working on a new installer for our SDK for a couple of weeks now, and I'm getting to the point where I've started build within our build system. An interesting thing has occurred and I'm wondering why.
Our installer comes in two flavours, one that downloads the components, and one that has them all pre-packed (predominantly for network administrators wanting to do network installations on many machines). The build that's running with --downloadable-components is taking 4-5 times as long. I'm not really all that bothered, I'm mostly just curious why this might be. One thing, is that I am using lots of wildcards, and lots of packing filters, would the amount of IO required to perform this filtering be more expensive in these instances? I have no idea what I'm talking about lol :)
Also, quickbuilding with --downloadable-components doesn't seem to work either.
