InstallBuilder generated installers for Windows includes a manifest that identifies the privilege level it needs to run. The requestedExecutionLevel property it is set to "requireAdministrator" by default but it can be changed to "highestAvailable" or "asInvoker":

    • asInvoker: The application runs with the token that started it
    • highestAvailable: Throws a UAC prompt for administrators and run with the usual reduced privileges for standard users
    • requireAdministrator: Will require elevation.

This property will just affect the behavior of the installers in those Windows versions that includes the UAC mechanism: Windows Vista, Windows Server 2008 and Windows 7

You can find additional information about how the manifest work in this article.
